Public Holidays
Introduction
1. The University observes the following public holidays:
- New Years Day;
- Australia Day;
- Good Friday;
- Easter Monday;
- ANZAC Day;
- Queen's Birthday
- August Bank holiday (to be taken the first working day after Boxing Day);
- Labour Day;
- Christmas Day;
- Boxing Day;
- Any other holiday proclaimed at the discretion of the University; and
- All other geographically relevant proclaimed holidays.
Christmas/New Year 2012 - 13
2. The University will officially be closed from the close of business Monday 24 December 2012 and reopen on Wednesday 2 January 2013. The University will open for normal business on Monday 24 December 2012 and it is expected that all employees will be on duty unless on approved leave.

3. Professional employees required to work during this time in order to attend to students or maintain other critical services on:
- Tuesday 25 December 2012; Wednesday 26 December 2012; Thursday 27 December 2012 and Tuesday 1 January 2013: Normal penalty rates will apply for work performed.
- Friday 28 December 2012 and Monday 31 December 2012: Employees will receive their normal rate of pay and receive time off in lieu of overtime calculated at time and a half for the hours worked, with the accrued time to be taken by 31 March 2013.
2013 Holidays
4. Depending on the location of their position, employees will observe the following holidays in 2013 in addition to the 2012/13 Christmas/New Year closure:
