
SCU Alumni welcomes new graduates from Shanghai, China and Hong Kong
Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Lee, Chancellor, The Honorable John Dowd AO QC, Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Business and Law, Professor Peter Croll, Dr Mark Christensen and Alumni Relations Manager, Lana Nancarrow recently attended presentation ceremonies at the Shanghai TV University in China and the Hong Kong Institute of Technology in Hong Kong.
Over 50 SCU graduands attended the STVU presentation ceremony to personally receive their SCU Testamurs from the Chancellor, The Honorable John Dowd AO QC with close to 100 SCU graduands in attendance at the HKIT presentation ceremony.
SCU Alumni Singapore Chapter - seeking volunteer event coordinator
The Southern Cross University Alumni - Singapore Chapter was established in 2002 as our first international alumni chapter.
The chapter aims to bring together all Singapore graduates and students of Southern Cross University, facilitate communication between graduates of SCU and help graduates to stay in touch with Southern Cross University and its activities.
With the continued growth of our Singapore Chapter, the Southern Cross University Alumni Association (Singapore) is seeking an volunteer event coordinator to help organise future alumni events in Singapore.

The annual School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Careers Day will be held at Southport Sharks Function Centre on Wednesday 30th March 2011.

Southern Cross University's commitment to capacity building in East Timor contributed to some exciting results last month with the emerging country exporting its first quantity of processed and packaged certified organic coffee to Australia.
Southern Cross University Chancellor The Hon John Dowd AO QC said the University had developed a rich relationship on the ground in Timor-Leste and described the project as a great way to help the population. [more]
A total of 180 solar panels, each of 215 watts, have been installed on the roof of the Student Services Centre. The 40KW solar power project has the capacity to produce 32 KW per day in ideal conditions and save 11.68 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year.In 2010 Southern Cross University Vice Chancellor Professor Lee made a $100,000 sustainability fund available to groups or individuals within the University to fund projects they felt would reduce the University's carbon footprint and improve our sustainability credentials.
Some exciting ideas have been put forward and so far seven projects have been funded. Southern Cross University sustainability officer Kirsty Howton said many of those initiatives had already been implemented or were well under way.
"It has been great to see that the sustainability initiatives made by Southern Cross University during 2010 have engaged a number of people across the University and its community," Ms Howton said. [more]

The School of Law and Justice offers the Summer Law School every year, with one-week intensive classes running during November and December in one of the most beautiful locations in the world, Byron Bay NSW.
The Summer Law School offers a range of niche and non-mainstream subjects delivered by School of Law and Justice Lecturers and a variety of distinguished Australian and International guest presenters. Students can choose up to two units, which are delivered intensively, depending on the length of time they wish to study and their particular interests.
Summer School is ideal for students, lawyers, industry professionals, senior bureaucrats and those requiring knowledge and understanding from the units on offer.
