2012 SCU Alumni of the Year Awards - nominations close 31 May, 2012.

Southern Cross University Alumni boasts more than 46,000 members in many different fields of work, throughout Australia and the world. Alumni members range from new graduates who are commencing their career, through to business and community leaders applying their education and expertise to lead industry and make positive change in our global community.

Southern Cross University's Alumni of the Year Awards recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of Southern Cross University Alumni, whilst highlighting exceptional leadership, service to community and innovation.

Nominations are now open for Southern Cross University's 2012 'Outstanding Alumnus of the Year' and 'Young Alumnus of the Year' awards. SCU's 2012 Alumni of the Year Awards, will be presented this year at a gala event on August 24.

SCU welcomes new alumni.

With SCU Graduation Ceremonies to be held in Sydney on 21 April, Lismore on 4 and 5 May, and Gold Coast on 19 May, SCU Alumni looks forward to congratulating new graduates and welcoming new alumni to our alumni community over coming months. We also welcome new alumni from SCU's Graduation Ceremony in Coffs Harbour on Saturday 31 May, 2012.

Exhibition Highlights SCU's History

Archival film, artwork and innovative education are some of the highlights of a new exhibition documenting the first 30 years of the development of Southern Cross University currently on show in the Lismore campus library.

'Genesis: The First Thirty Years 1970-2000' plots the history of the tertiary institutions that make up Southern Cross University. The chronological display includes film, photographs, documents, student magazines, sports uniforms, theatre company programs and a wide range of memorabilia, alongside a timeline of significant events.

More than 50 guests, many of them former members of staff, including Lionel Phelps, Southern Cross University's second Chancellor from 1998-2002, were present on March 1 when Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Lee officially opened the exhibition. Malcolm Marshall, Executive Director of Corporate Services, was the guest speaker.[more]

SCU College offers Associate Degrees

Innovative Associate Degrees in business and allied health will be offered through Southern Cross University's newly established SCU College from June this year.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed this month with North Coast TAFE paves the way for cooperation in the delivery of the Associate Degrees, opening up new opportunities for gaining entry to University.

SCU College, which is wholly owned by Southern Cross University, has been established to encourage greater participation in higher education across the region, from Coffs Harbour to the Gold Coast, by providing additional pathways into university.[more]
