Vice Chancellor's Welcome

Welcome to the Southern Cross University Alumni website. This is an important gateway for our former students providing an opportunity to stay connected with the University, regardless of where their careers have taken them. We now have more than 46,000 alumni spread across Australia and in many countries around the globe.

We are always very interested to hear of the achievements of our graduates and to share with them the developments at Southern Cross University. As Vice Chancellor I am pleased that I will get the chance over time to meet many of our alumni at the various networking events planned for both Australia and overseas.

My background is in engineering having received a Bachelor of Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a PhD from Monash University. My academic career spans close to 30 years, with leadership roles at the University of South Australia, where I was the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Academic), The University of Queensland, Murdoch University and Curtin University of Technology. I have also worked in industry, providing services to government and non-government agencies, including the United Nations Development Organisation.

I have long been attracted to the by-line of the car manufacturer Maserati - excellence through passion and we are indeed fortunate to have staff here at Southern Cross University who are passionate about the success of our students. We also have many alumni who are making a valued contribution to the University.

There are exciting times ahead as we continue to grow and strengthen, and our alumni will play a key role. I invite you to become involved in the life of the University.
