Unit Description

Introduces inter- and intrapersonal communication skills for clinical and academic contexts. This includes development of verbal and non-verbal communication skills suitable for clinical contexts, and academic communication skills (verbal and written). Arange of communication theories are presented and basic counselling skills introduced. Cross cultural communication and the needs of clients with specific communication limitations will be examined. Collaboration with other professionals including interpreters, trans-cultural workers and community representatives will be highlighted.
