Concentrates on the principles, sensor characteristics, extraction of information from satellite data and applications of remote sensing with some relevance to GIS. Students will have ‘hands-on’ training in computer processing of digital data from satellite sensors and continue to work on GIS principles and applications learnt in the GLY00223 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems unit. The GIS component covers Digital Elevation Models, predictive modelling and GIS/remote sensing integration. The emphasis will be given to use of these new spatial information technologies in addressing resource management issues.
