Regional Partnerships
What does it mean?
SCU looks to maintain a positive and sustainable relationship with its communities and wherever possible it supports opportunities to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that can address the needs of the region and the strategic priorities of SCU. The Office of Community Engagement works to the University's Strategic Plan to ensure SCU takes a constructive role in the intellectual, economic, environmental, social and cultural development of the region.
How it works?
Collaborative partnerships can include student internships that involve community engaged learning for undergraduates, investment in scholarships, case study research, field trips, mentoring and the design and management of conferences. Partnerships can be formal and informal through Memorandums of Understanding, they can be collaborations on funding applications and project management. Many SCU staff are members of regional boards and community groups.
SCU actively participates in regional networks to grow capacity, particularly in key fields of education, ageing, environmental management and climate change, health and human sciences, arts, social development, tourism, law and business.
