Welcome to Southern Cross University's Office of Community Engagement

Southern Cross University is committed to constructive engagement with its various local, regional, national and global communities. SCU is an integral part of its regional community. It nurtures a deliberate culture of mutually active collaboration. By connecting the resources of the University with the community through strong and enduring partnerships, SCU aims to positively contribute to the economic prosperity, socio-cultural well-being and environmental sustainability of the region through the quality of its students and the knowledge it disseminates.

What is University Community Engagement at SCU?

The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) sees university community engagement as an inclusive term that describes a broad range of intentional and mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its communities - be they communities of place, practice or affiliation. OCE works to facilitate interactions that are based upon a two-way exchange of information, that lead to the establishment of partnerships, that lend support to regional enterprise and that encourage the shared use of University facilities for the benefit of all.

SCU has extended its engagement with the higher education sector in Australia and internationally by hosting the Secretariat of the Australian Universities Community Engagement Alliance (AUCEA). SCU has been an active and contributing member of the AUCEA since its inception in 2003 and through this activity SCU will further strengthen its relationships with national and international higher education institutions.

We at the Office of Community Engagement welcome you and invite you to contact us to discuss the various ways we can help you engage with SCU.
