How does SCU engage with its communities?

The Office of Community Engagement helps to create an informed climate of engagement where committed, creative people from both the University and the community can work together to enhance the quality and sustainability of the community's social, cultural and economic life. Through university community engagement, the OCE helps create opportunities that link people to the University's core business - research, teaching, learning and public service. Against this background the OCE team serve as a gateway where the exchange of information, ideas and issues is encouraged to take place between the University and its communities of interest.

OCE works across three key areas that help develop and support relationships between SCU and its communities:

  • It acts as a clearing house and communication channel for the timely exchange and dissemination of information between the University and the community. It engages with staff throughout the University to ensure that information and intelligence is circulated and actioned in a timely and effective manner.
  • It encourages relationship building between SCU and its communities and helps to facilitate partnerships that engage the community with the University's core business.
  • OCE encourages the community to make use of SCU facilities and Norsearch facilities.
