Role of the Equity and Diversity Committee

  • Advise on strategies to meet the equity and cultural diversity legislative reporting obligations to both State and Federal agencies
  • Advise on institutional responses to equity and diversity policy initiatives taken by government and external agencies
  • Advise on equal opportunity, equity and cultural diversity impacts of the University's policies, practices and initiatives
  • Advise on strategies for improving access, participation, retention and success of students from equity target groups, particularly Indigenous Australians
  • Take carriage of matters relating to disability including the implementation of the University's Disability Action Plan
  • Champion equity and diversity amongst staff and students
  • Provide a consultative mechanism for the university community about equity and diversity matters
  • Commission research and consider reports on equity and diversity matters
  • Consider and report on any equity and diversity matter referred to the Committee by the Vice-Chancellor
