UNI-BOUND Program
The Equity and Diversity Office has in place a range of programs and activities aimed at strengthening the participation of students from equity groups. Southern Cross University's Strengthening Participation Action Framework is a whole of University commitment to improving access to, participation in and success at university of students from low socio-economic backgrounds.
The UNI-BOUND High School Outreach Program, as part of this commitment, offers an exciting array of activities for high school students who are typically under-represented in Higher Education. The program focuses on students in years 7, 8 and 9 and seeks to demystify university and encourage their interest in post-school study.
Participating students from UNI-BOUND partner schools are offered a range of experiences designed to assist them in overcoming real or perceived barriers to attending higher education.
UNI-BOUND is a tailored program that currently partners with 15 high schools from the Gold Coast to Kempsey. All partner schools serve high concentrations of low socio-economic status (SES) communities.
Program events are held at the University and at partner schools. The program focuses on providing a 'personal' experience of university life and features small group activities providing opportunities for school students to meet and interact with university staff and UNI-BOUND Mentors (university students who have been specially selected and trained by Southern Cross University).
