Equity and Diversity - Information for New Staff
Southern Cross University is committed to providing an environment for staff and students that embraces and supports a knowledge of, and respect for, equity and cultural diversity and which is free from harassment and discrimination.
The Equity and Diversity Office facilitates the development and implementation, in consultation with key stakeholders, of University policy, initiatives, strategies, programs and projects related to equity and diversity in employment and education.
It is responsible for:
- Equal Employment Opportunity;
- Affirmative Action;
- The Higher Education Participation and Partnership Program (HEPPP);
- Workshops and Events relating to Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity
The Equity and Diversity Office focuses on staff from the following groups:
- Women;
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples;
- People with disabilities; and
- People from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The Equity and Diversity Office focuses on programs for students and potential students from the following groups:
- Regional and remote areas;
- Low socio-economic backgrounds;
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples;
- People with disabilities;
- People from non-English speaking backgrounds
