If the swell is up and barreling you’ll be sure to find Hanabeth Luke getting amongst it. If she’s not, it means she’s busy working on her PhD or lecturing at Southern Cross University Lismore. A third generation surfer girl, Hanabeth grew up travelling between Cornwall, Byron Bay and Bali.
In 2002, whilst traveling the world surfing and deeply in love, Hanabeth found herself dancing in the Sari Club in Kuta, Bali when a massive car bomb exploded killing 202 people including her boyfriend, Marc Gajardo.
Now, 10 years after this horrific event Hanabeth’s healing journey has culminated in the release of her autobiography ‘Shock Waves, finding peace after the Bali bomb’. An intimate story of survival and healing, of confronting terror and challenging world leaders, on her public and personal journey towards peace.
Join Hanabeth for the launch.
