Fees and University Costs

University expenses can generally be broken into two categories: student fees (domestic or international) and other costs.

Student Fees

It is important for you to identify whether you are a domestic or international student to obtain a good estimate of the total cost of your study.

Domestic Student Fee Information - Students who pay domestic fees are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian permanent visa.

International Student Fee Information- A Student who pays International fees is a person who is not entitled to stay in Australia, or to enter and stay in Australia, without any limitation as to time, and is enrolled in a course of study with an Australian provider. A student who is in Australia on a temporary visa, including a temporary protection visa, is an international student.

Other costs

Expenses can generally be broken into three groups: study costs, living expenses and other expenses.
Each of these three costs are explained in the SCU Costs brochure.

Administrative Charges

There are a number of other administrative fees that students may be required to pay at some time during their university life. These may include such things as penalty charges for late re-enrolment, costs associated with graduation etc. For further information see Fees Rules in the Student Handbook.

Services and Amenities Fee

New legislation has been passed by the Commonwealth Government to allow universities to charge all enrolled students a Student Services and Amenities Fee capped at $263 for 2012 (indexed annually).

Eligible students will have the option of deferring this fee through the SA-HELP loan scheme, similar to HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP.

For more information visit our Services and Amenities Fee web page.
