Research into the pharmacognosy of medicinal plants is being carried out at the Medicinal Plant Herbarium on an ongoing basis.

Current reserach includes an investigation into the possible existence of chemotypes of passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) and pharmacognostic studies of motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) and closely related species.
