Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a safe and effective form of medicine in which a natural substance is prescribed in a specially diluted dose. This minute amount of medicine stimulates the body's own healing mechanisms facilitating a return to health - physically, mentally and emotionally.
What can be treated with homeopathy?
As homeopathy treats the person and not the disease, it can be used in the treatment of all types of disorders. On one hand it is a treatment used for first aid situations and common acute conditions, for example, coughs, colds, influenza, childhood illnesses, headaches and stomach disorders.
On the other hand homeopathy is equally applicable to the treatment of a person suffering from long-standing, or chronic conditions. Some examples are asthma, allergies, high blood pressure, arthritis and women's health concerns. Emotional and mental disturbances also respond well to homeopathic treatment, as the emphasis is placed on harmonising all aspects of the patient.
What will the consultation involve?
As already stated, homeopathy treats the individual rather than the disease label. An in-depth consultation, for a chronic complaint, may take up to two hours. Less time is required for acute conditions.
In order to find your specific remedy your practitioner will need to know what makes you unique and how your illness affects you in all aspects of your daily life. During your initial consultation, you will be asked many questions about health issues, both past and present, possibly even including those of your family. If you think of any information, no matter how unusual or insignificant it may seem to you, tell your student practitioner, as all these factors help to build the entire picture of you as a unique individual.
The questions may not necessarily focus on the physical complaints that you have come for, but will aim to give the student practitioner a much broader picture. As with other health practitioners, your interview and notes are highly confidential and will only be used to your advantage.
What can I expect to happen after homeopathy treatment?
The first sign that a remedy is taking effect will often be that you will feel an increase in your general sense of well being. At times some symptoms may be aggravated for a short time after the administration of the correct homeopathic prescription - this is as sign that the remedy has 'hit the right spot'. You may also have a return of old symptoms, which results from the remedy's cleansing effect on the body.
If you are concerned about any of these things, contact the clinic and organise to speak to your student practitioner. Remember, homoeopathy heals from the inside, improving the health of the whole person, not merely relieving the day to day symptoms. Every case is different, so be patient.
