Special Admission Schemes

Special Admission is designed to assist applicants who have been disadvantaged during years 11 and/or 12 or equivalent but have good academic potential.

An application for Special Admission is not an application for tertiary study. If you have not already done so you must also apply for tertiary study either through UAC, QTAC or directly to SCU.

How to apply for Special Admission

Once you have submitted your application for tertiary study you will need to submit a separate application for Special Admission.

Applying through UAC

If you can demonstrate that your educational performance during Years 11 and/or 12 or equivalent has been seriously affected by circumstances beyond your control, you can submit an Educational Access Scheme form. You can obtain a copy of the Educational Access Schemes (EAS) booklet from UAC. (Year 12 students can also obtain the booklet from their high school).

The main closing date for EAS applications is the end of November. You must submit your EAS application by this deadline to guarantee that it will be considered in time for the Main Round of offers. The final closing date for EAS applications is in late December, refer to UAC for key dates. The scheme is only available to students commencing studies at the beginning of each year and is not available to students commencing at other times of the year.

Applying through QTAC

Answer YES to the Special Consideration of Educational Disadvantage question on your QTAC application. QTAC will then send you a confidential form asking you to document your individual circumstances. Requests for Special Consideration of Educational Disadvantage should be submitted no later than the beginning of November to study in the following year.
