Setup your email on Android phones and tablets
The following step by step process will setup your email on an Android device. Note: These instructions assume use of the built-in email client on Android. Due to to the many different versions and user interfaces of Android, the following instructions are generalised although the settings are the same for all Android email clients.
Step 1:
From the Applications menu, select Email. This application may be named Mail on some versions of Android.
Enter your full e-mail address, (e.g. t.anderson.10@student.scu.edu.au) and your email password, and then select 'Next'.
Select Exchange account. This option may be named Exchange ActiveSync on some versions of Android.
Step 2: Enter the following account information
DomainUsername: Enter your full e-mail address, (e.g. t.anderson.10@student.scu.edu.au). If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty and type your full e-mail address in the Username box.
Password: Enter your email password (now the same as your computer login/wireless password).
Exchange Server: Enter m.outlook.com
Select 'Next'.
Step 3:
As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, the Account Options screen displays. The options available depend on the version of Android on your device. The options may include the following:
- Email checking frequency.
- Amount to synchronise.
- Notifications.
- Sync contacts
Select 'Next'.
Step 4:
Enter a name for this account and the name you want displayed when you send e-mail to others.
Select 'Done'.
Congratulations!
Your device is now configured for email. You can access your email via the regular Mail application. Please note that the first sync does take a second, so be patient.
