History
After commencing operation first as the Lismore Teachers' College, then as the Northern Rivers College of Advanced Education, Southern Cross operated as a campus of the University of New England between July 1989 and December 1993 before being constituted under the 'Southern Cross University Act 1993' [more]

Research Profile
Drawing on issues of relevance to the region to develop internationally significant research capabilities, SCU has organised its research efforts around two Special Research Centres, five Research Centres and several Research Clusters. [more]
Community Engagement
The University has strong links with its regional community. It nurtures a deliberate culture of mutually active collaboration.
