Distance Education Student Orientation
SCU welcomes all SCU students studying via distance education to familiarise yourself with this orientation website as it has useful tools and information for pre orientation planning and transitioning into university life.
If you live near one of our campuses you are most welcome to visit during Orientation. You will be able to familiarise yourself with the University (e.g. the library and computing services) as well as meet academic and support staff. See the Orientation schedules for activities happening on-campus.
For those of you that aren’t able to visit your nearest campus, watch this space for videos on course information sessions and other support services.
As a distance education student you can choose to attend lectures for your unit to help with your learning if you can get to our campus where they’re being held. However, tutorials, laboratory and other small group sessions are only available to on-campus students.

The ‘U Discover SCU’ tour is a virtual tour that will guide you around the various helpful websites and services available to you as a Southern Cross University Distance Education student. You might want to write down a couple of the website addresses that you visit or save them to your computer’s internet favourites for future use.
Here are a few things you need to know about completing the tour:
- You need to complete it in one sitting as your answers will not save. If you leave the questions page you will have to restart.
- Only one entry per student is allowed
- This ‘U Discover SCU’ virtual tour is for Distance Education students only. For on-campus students please complete your tour at your campus.
- The U Discover SCU tour will open during the next Orientation session.
The ‘U Discover SCU’ tour is presented by Southern Cross University Alumni.
Law Students — Law Lounge
Law Lounge is an online gateway for first year law and justice students to create and manage their own study groups. It's about studying with other students wherever you are, however you choose and whenever you like.
We recommend that you take a look at the Study Resources section of the Students website for more helpful online resources.
We wish you every success in your studies at SCU!
