This questionnaire provides for feedback from first year undergraduate students on whether the experience overall is meeting their expectations, questions about the course, about University services and facilities, and about whether a student is considering changing course or discontinuing study.
The questionnaire is delivered online, and follow-ups are posted where relevant. No individual student is identified in the report. The overall questions are scored on a five-point scale from 'strongly disagree' to 'strongly agree'. Questions on the course, and on services have two scales, one which relates to importance, and the other which relates to current performance. There is also an area for comment on positive aspects of the University and things that the University needs to change or improve. Following analysis, reports are provided to members of the University Executive, managers of service areas, managers of campuses, and analysis of relevant courses is provided to course co-ordinators and Heads of Schools. The summary report is also provided to Academic Board. They are asked to report on action they have planned or taken to address critical comment. The survey has been conducted annually since 2004. Summary Reports are available for download in pdf format. First Year Experience Survey - Summary reports^
