This is an on-line questionnaire that provides for regular evaluation and feedback from students on every unit including the teaching and delivery of the unit. Students will have the opportunity to provide feedback on units on a regular basis. The on-line system guarantees that all feedback is anonymous and confidential.
We are grateful to all students who take the time to provide this online feedback. The feedback on individual units and lecturers represents an important quality assurance mechanism enabling University staff to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning across the University. The survey instrument is structured into two major components: A) Seven compulsory Core Questions - 1. The objectives and performance standards in this unit were made clear 2. I am satisfied with the assessment tasks in this unit 3. The workload demands of the unit are about right 4. This unit helped me to develop some valuable skills/attributes 5. I am satisfied with the way this unit was taught/delivered 6. Respect for cultural diversity was embedded in this unit. 7. Overall, I am satisfied with this unit. and B) Five assessor selected Optional Questions chosen from an on-line data bank of 73 other questions. In each question students are asked to rank the response using a five point scale ranging from Strongly Disagree through to Strongly Agree. Students also have the opportunity to include comments for each question. A final question enables students to provide additional detailed commentary on ways in which the unit may be improved. Following analysis of the feedback a report is provided on each unit to the respective Unit Assessor. The report includes a statistical breakdown of the response ratings for each question, a summary of responses by location and a full listing of the comments in relation to each question. Copies of these reports are also provided on request to the Head of School (for all units taught by the School) , and are available to the Executive Dean (for all units offered within the Faculty) and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Further high level analysis is then undertaken on the aggregated data from the feedback session. The following summary reports (of core questions only) are produced and can be viewed on this website: Summary of ratings (%) for whole of University, Summary by Division and School, Summary by Field of Education and Summary by Location.
