Compelling Economics

Compelling Economics logo Compelling Economics was formed in 2006 following the spin-off by La Trobe University of its Economic Research Unit (ERU). Continuing the work of the ERU, Compelling Economics has developed a reputation for undertaking rigorous research in the area of regional economics and developing analytical tools for economic development practitioners and researchers in Federal, State and local government agencies, universities and consulting firms.

The economic modeling and analysis software, REMPLAN, is central to the work of Compelling Economics and is it applied by organisations across Australia. Incorporating Census and National Accounts data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, REMPLAN generates area-specific economic profiles including reports on regional employment, wages and salaries, imports / exports, local expenditure / sales, output and Gross Regional Product (GRP). REMPLAN also features a dynamic impact modeling capability enabling the analysis of 'what if' scenarios (www.remplan.com.au).

World Supply Research Institute (WSRI)

WSRI logo Southern Cross University currently hosts the World Supply Research Institute (WSRI), which is a joint collaboration between Southern Cross University (www.scu.edu.au) and the Singapore Institute of Purchasing Materials Management (SIPMM) (www.sipmm.org.sg). The WSRI has strong connections to a number of agencies and research institutions, both in Australia and internationally. The prime focus of the WSRI is to undertake research on supply chain management, innovation and organisational change.
