Plant Genomics Services is equipped with a wide range of genetic technologies and supports the centre's research activities as well as providing high quality sequencing, genotyping services and research collaborations to external clients. Major platforms include: Illumina Genome Analyser IIx The GAIIx is able to generate over 70 gigabases of high quality sequence data per run (135 bp paired-end) also supported by substantial computing infrastructure. This enormous output is leading to new approaches in fields such as transcriptomics, epigenetics and metagenomics accelerating improvements in diverse crops and plant products. Applied Biosystems 3730 Genetic Analyser Applications include Sanger sequencing, SSR genotyping, TILLING. Sequenom MassARRAY This system processes samples using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) which can resolve mass differences to three Daltons. Applications include high-throughput SNP genotyping and oligonucleotide quality control. EnquiriesMark Edwards
