After completing his BSc at Monash University Stirling worked at the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories on human allergens. He joined CPCG in 2001. Stirling oversaw the setting up of the Southern Cross Plant Genomics facility and continues as Technical Officer. Tiffeny joined the Centre in 2001 as a Laboratory Assistant. She oversees the general running of the laboratories at the Centre; this includes maintaining stock of consumables and placing orders to meet the requirements of the researchers. Shelley works at the Centre's Tissue Culture laboratory and is responsible for undertaking experiments and duties relating to growth of plants in tissue culture, growth rooms and in the Glasshouses. Shelley also plays a critical role in generating transgenic rice and wheat by Agrobacterium or particle-bombardment mediated transformation. Return to Staff Index List

Cathy joined the Centre in 2006 and is employed as Laboratory Manager. Following undergraduate studies at UNSW in biology, she worked for several years in palaeontology at UNSW before relocating to the north coast to train with Professor Peter Baverstock in molecular biology. She attained an MSc. on the evolution of Australia's elapid snakes and now completed a PhD in conservation genetics. Her research interests are evolution, phylogenetics, phylogeography and the population genetics of threatened species. View Publications | Return to Staff Index List

Allison is responsible for the day to day operation of the Centre's plant tissue culture facilities, plant houses and plant growth facilities. Many of these are AQIS or PC2 registered. Current tissue culture projects include transformation of wheat, rice and barley using particle bombardment-mediated and Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.
