1-4 July 2003

Byron Bay Community Centre

Byron Bay NSW, Australia

Welcome

This international conference is for everyone who cares passionately about human rights, and who wishes to activate/re-activate human rights and their importance in the twenty-first century. The core aim of this conference is to bring together activists, scholars, Non Government Organisations, and health care and community workers who represent a diversity of viewpoints. The conference will seek local and global responses to the essential need for justice in the world today.

The forums will provide a crucial and critical learning space for activating human rights and diversity in relation to the fields of law, culture, politics and health. A major focus of the conference is to invite participants to exchange ideas and experiences about human rights, questions of diversity and their implications across these fields. The conference affirms an interdisciplinary and activist approach to challenge the theory and practice of human rights.

The conference will also play an important role in promoting regional Australia as a place where local, national and global voices can come together in the quest for justice and freedom.

Convenor
