Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)
The Human Research Ethics Committee of Southern Cross University has been set up as an advisory committee to the Vice Chancellor. Membership of this Committee is voluntary. The Committee membership follows the guidelines set down by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and comprises:

Human Research Ethics Sub-Committees (HRESCs)
There are two HRESCs at SCU. They are situated at Coffs Harbour and Gold Coast Tweed Heads campuses.
Coffs Harbour
The Coffs Harbour sub-committee has been established to consider Minimal Risk Research (Expedited) ethics applications from the Coffs Harbour campus.
There are six members of this sub-committee, the Chair is a sitting member of the main HREC and attends the HREC meetings.

The HRESC at Gold Coast Tweed Heads has been established to consider Minimal Risk Research (Expedited) ethics applications. It is situated at the Gold Coast Tweed Heads Campus in the SCU Business School.
There are four members of this sub-committee, the Chair is a sitting member of the main HREC and attends the HREC meetings.
