Research Ethics
Ethics and ethical principles extend to all spheres of human activity. They apply to our dealings with each other, with animals and the environment. Southern Cross University (SCU) is committed to the ethical conduct of research and ensures that its' researchers maintain the highest ethical standards in the conduct of research and teaching.
Human Research Ethics
At Southern Cross University, human research ethics is overseen by the Division of Research in conjunction with the Human Research Ethics Committee. Together they oversee the planning and design of ethics applications on human research, the process of applying for ethical clearance, and the ethical conduct of research.

Animal Research Ethics
The scope of the NSW Animal Research Act 1985 covers anyone who wishes to conduct research involving the use of animals. Animals for the purposes of this Act include any vertebrate, other than a human being; that is, any mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian or fish. For more information contact:

Australian Code of Conduct for the Responsible Conduct of Research
The Code advocates and describes best practice in research for researchers and institutions, as well as setting out a framework for handling breaches of the Code.
