| Selection Criteria | Applicants for the Mayor of Lismore for Outstanding Academic Achievement (for second year students) Scholarship must be Australian citizens or permanent residents commencing their second year of study in any undergraduate program at SCU's Lismore campus and selection based on:- Academic achievement: achievement of a credit average in the first year of a Bachelor undergraduate degree (completion of between 6 and 8 units)
- Applicants must reside within the Lismore Local Government Area
- Applicants must be studying and Bachelor degree at Southern Cross University's Lismore campus, and be enrolling in a minimum of three units per session or undertaking a total of 6–8 units for the entire academic year.
- Applicants who have achieved success under conditions of disadvantage or hardship as demonstrated by their answers to questions on the application form.
- Applicants who can demonstrate a history of leadership and involvement in their school and/or broader community.
- Applicants who have an interest in working in the government sector.

- Applicants for the 1-year scholarship must be enrolling to study their final year of a Bachelor of Laws degree full-time at the Southern Cross University Lismore campus.
- Preference will be given to students that meet the above criteria and show evidence of outstanding achievement under conditions of economic or social disadvantage.
- Preference will be given to local students enrolling to study and who indicate a high likelihood of remaining in the area to practice law following graduation.
- Applicants for both scholarships must submit a letter of support from a law lecturer who indicates that the applicant has a high level of commitment and dedication and proof of successful academic progression in their studies to date.
