About this Site
Food for Special Occasions is a learning area which forms part of the Stage 5 Food Technology Syllabus . This five week unit provides exciting and educationally rich learning experiences and activities for students studying this course. This web site is intended to aid teachers in the delivery of this unit and allow them to spend more time on discussion rather than conducting classroom activities. It will benifit students through its unique and motivational method of delivery and increase students understanding of computers and their computing skills.
The main purpose of this unit is to enable students to understand various cultures, cultural differences, historical development of food, and social factors influencing food choice. It develops student’s skills in planning, researching and collecting data, creative idea generation, and food preparation and presentation.
