Early childhood education
The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) is available in at Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Tweed Heads Lakeside. The course is not available to International students at SCU Lakeside.
The course is distinctive in terms of its child-centred philosophy and is supported by up-to-date evidence on best practice in the early years, including research being undertaken through the Centre for Children and Young People, which is co-located with the School of Education.
The degree enables graduates to work in a variety of early childhood contexts , including kindergarten, early primary school, pre-schools, childcare centres and other early childhood services (birth-8 years). It also provides a pathway whereby graduates are eligible to teach in NSW across the range of educational settings from early childhood to upper primary (birth-12 years). The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) is approved by the NSW Institute of Teachers and endorsed by the NSW Department of Community Services.
