Higher education policy & practice research
The Cluster for Higher Education Policy and Practice (CHEPP) hosts two distinct research streams linked through policy research in higher education. Its aim is to host and foster higher education research in policy studies and in teaching and learning that can inform policy. CHEPP provides the framework for externally funded higher education projects, a collegial base for scholars in higher education and a supportive environment for its increasing number of doctoral candidates. It provides research seminars and hosts distinguished international scholars in higher education.
The research areas within CHEPP concern the development of higher education in SE Asian countries, in particular Vietnam and Laos; the financing of higher education systems; the nature of knowledge in higher education; doctoral education and academic standards; technology in higher education, in particular the use of virtual worlds as learning media; aspects of learning, teaching and academic practice in higher education.
A current major project under the auspice of CHEPP concerns the development of a university sector for Vietnam (M Hayden).
Members of CHEPP have broad experience in the evaluation of educational programs and projects in higher education CHEPP can direct enquiries for independent evaluation to members with particular expertise.
