Environmental Science
The Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management offers three majors. Students can choose one of these or study a double major in three and a half years.
Coastal Management: This major examines the natural and social processes that affect our use of the coastal zone. It covers the major coastal sciences, land use planning, protected area management, resource economics, environmental law, and environmental impact studies and assessment.
Environmental Resource Management: This major provides broad knowledge of chemistry ecology and environmental planning, all key factors in making sound management decisions for the future. Students are also involved in fieldwork such as wildlife surveys and water quality monitoring programs.
Fisheries and Aquaculture: This major integrates fisheries biology, stock management and aquaculture studies with coastal and marine environmental management. Many students undertake work experience in fisheries management agencies, fishing co-operatives or fishing boats as part of their studies.
