Action research and evaluation on line:
a brief description
Areol, action research and evaluation on line, is a 14-week public course offered each semester as a public service by Southern Cross University and the Southern Cross Institute of Action Research (SCIAR).
It functions as two electronic mailing lists, supported by further electronic mailing lists for special interest groups. One mailing list is read-only, and carries the weekly sessions. The other is a discussion list on which people can ask questions about the material on the read-only list.
Special interest groups function much as electronic learning groups. On them, participants help each other apply the material from the course to projects in their own areas of interest. To some extent the learning groups can be chosen to fit the needs of the participants. Currently, the following groups are usually available: novices; practitioners; academics; people doing action research theses. It is possible to set up two or three further groups if there is enough interest.
There is also a web-based version where people can access the sessions at their own pace.
Both versions are supported by an archive of related resource materials.
