The Hidden Rules of Work GameA training resource
Alec Morgan -- Morgan Key Training Resources
Alec Morgan is a consultant providing training and training resources on work, vocational training and disability issues. He is the inventor and author of The Hidden Rules of Work Game. He is based in Northern New South Wales.
The reasons for losing or leaving a job are often to do with a mismatch between a worker's interpretation of the social rules and the expectations of employers and coworkers. The rules might be defined or articulated but breach them and the consequences can be isolating.
The rules contribute to the culture, productivity and harmony of the workplace. They seriously impact on individual levels of job satisfaction. For the uninitiated they're a trap.
Who decides what the rules are? What sorts of things are they about? How do they help trainees and new workers look out for and learn about them?
The Hidden Rules of Work Game is a platform for the discovery and discussion about social competencies required in work settings. It puts attitudes and fuzzy grey social competencies on the table for discussion and debate about 'fitting in' to work settings. Players match their personal values and preferences to different settings. It's innovative and exciting.
