Teaching MethodsCandidates are provided with access to modern facilities and technology at our Tweed Gold Coast Campus. Classes are designed to ensure that you receive specialist individual attention and benefit from networking opportunities with other candidates. We also have an extensive distance education program, which is highly interactive and our online study environment strives to promote collaboration and a sense of community. We understand that our distance students are time-poor and must juggle study with work and family commitments, so we have designed our program with this in mind. Our Biannual Symposia are held at our Tweed Gold Coast campus and at overseas partner locations which provide excellent support and networking opportunities for candidates. Upon completion of the Research Methods units in the Research Preparatory Stage, a supervisor is appointed to support the candidate. Candidates communicate regularly with supervisors via email, phone and face-to-face meetings. Learning ResourcesCandidates receive a package of learning materials that guide them through every stage of the program. For the postgraduate units and the Research Methods units, candidates receive study guides, prescribed texts and supplementary readings. Further study guides and readings are provided for the remainder of the Research Preparatory Stage.Candidates also have online access to the Doctoral Candidate Centre, University library catalogues and full-text journal databases. These resources offer candidates an unlimited wealth of information, support and networking facilities. Assessment MethodsCandidates are assessed in each postgraduate unit on the basis of written and oral assignments. These may be essays, research papers, video or audio presentations, case analyses, or problem solutions. Preparatory stage units are assessed through research outputs. Thesis units are not formally assessed during the thesis writing process. The completed thesis is submitted for examination to internal and external examiners appointed by the Director, Doctorate of Business Administration Program. Entry RequirementsFor entry into your program you must hold an Undergraduate Degree with Honors at 2nd Class Div 1 or above, or hold a Masters Degree or equivalent (equivalence recognised by Southern Cross University). There is an opportunity for you to receive advanced standing (credit) for 4 Postgraduate Units if you have completed an appropriate Masters in your discipline area, with the possibility of further credit if you have completed equivalent research methodology units within your previous study. Doctoral SymposiaThe Doctoral Symposia are held biannually at the Tweed Gold Coast Campus and at our international collaborating institutions. The symposium provides a great opportunity for you to meet other candidates, exchange tips, explore different research methodologies and receive advice from experts in a broad range of research areas.
