NatMed-Research Unit
NatMed-Research, led by Professor Stephen Myers, undertakes a combination of academic and commercial research in the broad field of natural and complementary medicine. Since its inception in 2006, NatMed-Research has conducted clinical trials on complementary medicines across a wide range of conditions including:
- Hypercholesterolemia
- Immune function
- Anaemia
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Stress
- Osteoarthritis.
The unit has an excellent relationship with the Northern Rivers community where it actively recruits for participants who are willing to volunteer for clinical research into natural and complementary medicine.
NatMEd-Research also provides research training for students undertaking higher research degrees in natural and complementary medicine. NatMed currently has 6 PhD students working on a wide range of projects including premenstrual syndrome, stress, lower back pain, and evidence based detoxification strategies.
