Welcome to the Medicinal Plant Garden

GardenThe Medicinal Plant Garden on the Lismore Campus of Southern Cross University contains an extensive and unique collection of medicinal plants from around the world.

The Garden incorporates the Australian Native Food & Medicine Garden comprising plants used by Australian Indigenous peoples for food or medicine. The Garden also features a number of thematic beds illustrating historical, scientific and other aspects of herbal medicine.

The Garden serves a number of functions:

  • as a botanic garden that is integrated with the campus landscape
  • as a "living laboratory" for teaching Naturopathy and Complementary Medicine
  • as a community resource (disabled access)
  • as a significant reference collection of medicinal plants
  • as a resource for research projects on medicinal plants
