The School of Health & Human Sciences

students in the labsThe School of Health & Human Sciences at Southern Cross University provides a comprehensive range of award programs in the field of health and human sciences, and aims to advance and disseminate knowledge through the conduct of scholarly research and the provision of quality professional development opportunities in the region.

By choosing to study a Health & Human Science degree at Southern Cross University you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing industry, with options in nursing, psychology, natural and complementary medicine, occupational therapy, exercise science and more.

The School works with professional associations to design and deliver courses and experiences that enable graduates to take up positions in the health and human sciences workforce. A strong focus of the School is to ensure that students undertake professional placements in the industry to provide them with a practical understanding of their chosen field and the opportunity to work with professionals.

As well as offering a learning environment that provides simulated experiences in specialty laboratories and advanced facilities, the courses offered by the School recognise the needs of students to study flexibly, with many courses and units designed to be available via distance education or online delivery.

Our courses are offered at four locations on Australia’s East Coast; Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Lismore and the Tweed/Gold Coast. With nearby world heritage-listed rainforests and marine parks, a sub-tropical climate and easy access to Sydney and Brisbane, we are ideally situated for both research and study.

The School has over 1800 students, taught and supported by around 150 dedicated staff aiming to provide the highest quality learning experiences. The School aims to produce not only good scientists but capable and creative practitioners.
