Southern Cross University has available an on-line program that combines Community Development and Emergency Management in postgraduate studies. The Graduate Certificate/Graduate Diploma/Master of Community Development (Emergency Management) programs are located within the School of Arts and Social Sciences.

The ability to undertake such studies is unique in that it allows practitioners to access such study from all corners of the world and it builds on the myriad of information available through the internet.
Studying online in the format of this course allows students to regularly interact with the staff, other students and the world wide web. It is an enriched interactive environment unlike any routine distance education program.

This program was developed following discussions nationally and internationally and is based upon the international imperative to reduce the effects of disasters or emergencies by working with communities.

" ... a unique, postgraduate online experience... "

Online study, as utilised in this program, provides off-campus students with the ability to apply contemporary knowledge/research on emergency situations to "real" community based practices.

About the Programs and Online Study:
The Community Development and Emergency Management programs are "cutting edge" in that they provide knowledge and skills that are highly relevant to the contemporary emergency management agendas.
