The study and production of media is one of the most dynamic and energetic areas today. All around us we witness the constant change and development of media technologies and practices; with the explosion of online media, social media, mobile devices and user-generated content, media are embedded in almost every aspect of our lives, both work and play. Media production and analysis feeds multi-billion dollar industries such as the television industry, the film industry, the games industry, the design and advertising industry, and broadcast and online journalism. For anyone looking to play a part in the ongoing drama of cultural and economic development, it is vital to be proficient in media, have the ability to analyse and study its effects and produce new media forms.
The Bachelor of Media explores compelling storytelling in all its forms. Students will learn to think critically and creatively about themselves, their workplace and community in a national and global context. With a strong emphasis on both digital production and analysis, our course prepares and equips graduates with a range of practical skills appropriate to an increasingly technological world. Access to excellent production facilities includes digital workstations and labs, radio and television studios and location recording equipment. Students also gain industry experience by undertaking professional placement and media project units.
