Awards for excellence

The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University is a recognised leader in the field of tourism and hospitality education in Australia with a strong history of delivering award-winning education.

In 2011 the School's Work Integrated Learning Team won a national Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning by the Australian Teaching and Learning Council. Citations were awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the quality of student learning over a sustained period.

In 1997, 1998, and 1999, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management won the New South Wales Award for Excellence in Industry Education.

Southern Cross University was also the first university to win the Australian Tourism Award for Industry Education in 1999.

The Hotel School Sydney, which is a unique partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia's hotel portfolio, won the 2000 New South Wales Tourism Award of the Decade for Industry Training (Private Sector), the 2001 NSW Tourism Award for Industry Training (Private Sector) and the 2001 National Training Award for Superior Leadership in Training in the Tourism and Hospitality industry from Tourism Training Australia.

Southern Cross University reaffirmed its status as a tourism and hospitality education leader by winning the 2003-2004 Australian Tourism Award for Tourism Education and Training. In 2004 the Hotel School was voted Best Training Initiative by the Australian Hotels Association.

The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management also won the Silver Award for Tourism Education and Training at the 2008 NSW Tourism Awards.
