Dr Helen Breen, PhD
Current position: Post-doctoral fellow on an ARC Discovery grant.

Areas of research Interest
Adult tertiary education, hospitality and club management; economic and social impacts of gambling; Indigenous gambling and responsible gaming evaluation.

Employment Relations in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry (small business relations); the management of human knowledge capital and service quality; responses to increased work - why people take less annual leave and why they downshift and sea change; union strategies in an age of de-unionisation and service industry growth; and OH&S issues in the workplace.

Dr John Haw, PhD
Current position: Research Fellow, Centre for Gambling Education and Research
Qualifications: BA(UWS), BA(Hons)Psych, (UWS), PhD(UWS)
Areas of Research Interest
Dr Haw's major research interest is gambling behaviour with a particular focus on the interaction between the gambler, the game and the venue. He has conducted research into gaming machine and gaming venue design, along with other projects on gambling promotions and marketing, the hospitality features of venues and the measurement of player experience.

Service management (Quality, service failure and service recovery): cultural influences with special interest in Chinese culture, on Mainland Chinese consumer behaviour, in the context of service failure and recovery, in the tourism and hospitality settings. Research methodology – interests in means-end value chain and experimental design using scenario.

Dr Matthew Lamont, PhD
Current Position: Associate Lecturer

Areas of Research Interest
Matt's primary research interest is in social aspects of sports tourism participation, specifically motivations and behaviours of sport-focused leisure participants, and non-elite participation in sporting events. His other research interests include event sponsorship, and strategic management in leisure and tourism enterprises.

Professor Elizabeth Roberts
Current Position: Head, School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. 
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Classical Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University in the USA, and her dissertation was an ethnographic case study based on a three year study in a hospitality consulting firm.
Areas of research interest
Elizabeth's research interests include those that examine workplace communication issues, culture and communication, and tourism education. Elizabeth has been actively involved as a consultant and trainer within the hospitality industry and has worked for international hotel chains throughout the world.

Dr Pascal Scherrer, PhD
Current Position: Lecturer
Qualifications: PhD (Griffith), BSc (Hons1)(Griffith), BSc (Griffith), GradCert TESOL (Bond)
Areas of research interest
With a background in environmental science and ecotourism, Pascal's main research interest is in sustainable tourism and visitor management in natural and cultural landscapes, addressing the areas of environmental, social and cultural impacts and their relationship. He also has an interest in the role of tourism and leisure contexts in promoting physical activity and in alpine ecology and monitoring tools, including the use of science based geographic information system (GIS) applications to support land managers.

Martin's research interests include spatial relationships between gambling venues and supporting communities, gambling supply structures and the distribution of gambling-related harm, the sociology of gambling production and consumption, social production and consumption of tourist places, causes and consequences of population mobility.
