Research interests / background

Frances is currently completing a PhD on the Australian native rainforest genus Davidsonia (Cunoniaceae). The genus consists of only three species, two of which are listed as endangered. Her research project involves the use of molecular tools to study the conservation and population genetics, reproductive biology and phylogenetic relationships within the genus.

Prior to commencing full-time study, Frances worked on the development of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) markers as a tool for sugarcane genotyping and genome analysis as part of the CRC for Sugar Industry Innovation through Biotechnology. She also worked on hybrid pine verification and identification of candidate genes for wood quality for the CRC for Sustainable Forestry.
