Joining an SCU club/society or playing in a community sporting/recreation team or group supported by UniLife is a great way to meet people and pursue an interest outside your academic life here at SCU.

AFL – Lismore Swans

Badminton

The SCU Badminton Club plays every Thursday 7pm – 9pm at the P Block sports hall on Lismore campus. It is a popular activity with many of our visiting International students and is a great way to meet other students. The club is open to people of all abilities and new players are welcome.

Netball – SCU Netty Rats

The SCU Netball Club is the largest club within the Southern Cross community. The club strives to promote a healthy active lifestyle and create new and long lasting friendships with new players welcome. The club boasts in excess of 110 players in 12 teams with many making the finals and grand finals of the local Lismore competition.

Rugby Club

SCU Gold Rats
The Gold Rats Rugby Club competes in the Far North Coast Rugby Union competition with teams in first and second grades and U/19s. They also compete in the Uni Games and the Byron Bay Rugby 7s competitions each year. New players welcome! Training is held at the Maurie Ryan Oval, Lismore campus on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30pm.

The Board Riders Club holds regular competitions during the year at local surf breaks including Ballina and Lennox Head. They also compete in the King and Queen of the Campuses Surf Challenge and the Australian University Surfing Champs. This club is very active out of the surf as well with regular social events and parties. The club is also keen to involve surfers at Coffs & Gold Coast campuses.

SCUZBAG (Southern Cross Uni Softball, Cricket, Baseball & Golf)

If you’re into softball, cricket, baseball or golf then SCUZBAG is the club for you. The club competes in the Australian Uni Twenty20 Cricket competition among other things.

SCU Dive Clubs

The SCU Dive Club membership provides heavily discounted dives and dive courses. The Dive Club hosts monthly trips to dive sites in Cape Byron Marine Park with a weekend trip away each session either to South West Rocks or the wreck of the HMAS Brisbane just off Mooloolaba in QLD.
