The National Campus DJ Comp is one of Australia's premier national DJ competitions, backed by over 30 university and TAFE student unions throughout Australia. The annual competition gives student DJs the opportunity to mix it with the industry's best, giving them valuable experience and feedback from seasoned DJs and helping them to hone their skills. Participation levels for NCDJC have continued to grow steadily over the years adding to the competition and overall standard. This is your chance to play at Australia’s biggest Festival, the National Final will be held in Melbourne on June 21, 2012 and some of the Judges include Ajax (Two times ‘Australia’s Number 1, DJ:ITM Top 50 and Head Honcho at Sweat it Out record label) and we can also announce that Deacon Rose (JJJ MIX IT UP Presenter) will also be on the judging panel for 2012. Get excited, and get practicing! We encourage all student DJs to apply: this means all skill levels, genres and personalities are welcome. How to CompeteTypical Playing Times Each DJ will be allocated 15 minutes to perform. There will be a maximum of 5 minutes to change over between DJs. Please note this format may vary slightly — please check the playing times with your local NCDJC coordinator. You can play any genre, we want you play the music you feel connected to the most, SO, ALL GENRES are welcome! Sound System and DJ Equipment (may vary between campuses)- 1 × frame or stable table
- 2 × Technics SL 1200 Turntables
- 2 × Pioneer CDJ 1000 CD Turntables (or similar)
- 1 × Pioneer DJM600 DJ Mixer or Numark FX 5000 4 Channel
- 1 × DJ scratch mixer (if you need one)
- A PA with foldback (so the DJ can hear themselves)
- A mic for MC
Sound ProvisionA sound engineer/tech should be supplied for you for your performance. Judging Criteria SCU’s DJ Comrade Dubs at the NCDJ Comp Grand FinalJudging criteria applied by the NCBC Judges will be as follows: - Originality of Material: 20 points
- Stage presence: 20 points
- Audience Response: 20 points
- Transition and Level control: 10 points
- Performance Skills / Technical Ability: 30 points
SCU NCDJ Competition will be held on Thursday May 17 at the Unibar, Lismore campus. In 2011, the SCU DJ, Comrade Dubs, came third in the National Final in Melbourne (pictured).
