Cost

Students who are eligible for a Medicare card will be BULK BILLED for the consultation. Make sure you bring your Medicare and/or Health Care card with you. Pathology ordered at the consultation for bulk billing purposes requires the signature of the patient on the pathology form.

Cancellations & Non-Attendance: Due to the high demand during semester time, the medical practice appreciates the courtesy of a telephone call if you are unable to keep an appointment. Other patients are disadvantaged when the practice is not notified of a cancellation.

International Students: Consultation fees for international students are refunded by private insurance. Make sure you bring your private health care card with you.

Fees are determined by the length and complexity of the consultation and is advised by the medical practitioner at the end of the consultation. Payment is required at the end of the consultation. The medical practice does not have EFTPOS facilities available and does not have cash held on the premises. Cash withdrawals are available from the ATM at Goodman Plaza.

Pathology ordered at the consultation will be a separate fee. Sullivan and Nicolaides Pathology Service will send an account to the patient for payment. When ordering pathology ensure the doctor writes on the pathology form that the patient is an Overseas Student and the pathology service will charge the rebate amount only.

Pathology Test Results

It is the responsibility of the patient to follow up in regard to any pathology results that have been ordered with the medical practitioner.

Pharmacy Service

Prescriptions: A doctor’s consultation is required to provide repeat prescriptions as ongoing evaluation of current medication is always necessary. The medical service can, by arrangement, have prescriptions filled and delivered to the Union shop. If there are repeats on the prescription, the repeat is held on the patient’s file. Holders of current Health Care Cards and Pension Care Cards may be eligible for the prescription to be under the NHS listing.

First Aid Room

Qualified First Aid staff are available on campus. Initial contact can be made via the reception desk at the Student Health and Support Service, Shop 1, Goodman Plaza.

Pap Smears

Women should have a Pap smear every two years, usually from their late teens to about 70 years of age.

Privacy

All patient consultations and patient records are strictly confidential and we maintain record security.

Feedback

We welcome feedback and any suggestions you may have to improve the practice. Please speak to the doctor or receptionist in the first instance. If you have any complaints regarding the medical service, you should contact the Director, Student Services.
