Dr Lisa Milner completed her PhD at the University of Wollongong, and has been teaching at SCU since 2004, in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research interests are wide-ranging: in 2011, when she accepted an ongoing position with the university, she was appointed to three research centres: the Centre for Gambling Education and Research at SCU, the Centre for Sustainable Organisations and Work at RMIT University; and she is a member of the international research project 'In the Same Boat? Shipbuilding and ship repair workers: a global labour history (1950-2010)', based at the International Institute of Social History, Amsterdam. Originally a filmmaker, she teaches mainly into the Media Program. Her current research interests include screen representations of Australian work, politics and citizenship, labour history, segregated cinemas, community organisations and management, union movements and film, the representation of gambling in Australian media and community media and its discontents. |
