Equity Scholarships are awarded to help disadvantaged undergraduate students with costs associated with higher education. The ScholarshipsEquity Book BursaryValue and Duration: one-off non-cash voucher of $250.
SCU Equity ScholarshipValue and Duration: one off payment of $1500.
Indigenous Commonwealth ScholarshipsValue and Duration: $1145–$4442 between 6 months and 4 years (values indexed annually). All Indigenous students are encouraged to apply but students can only receive Commonwealth Scholarships OR Centrelink Scholarships not both. Contact the Scholarships Office for further information.
Eligibility and Priority of OfferStudents who receive Parenting Payment, Disability Payment and Carer Payment are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are assessed based on degree of disadvantage and will be prioritised for offer in this way. Indigenous students receiving Abstudy can apply but will be unable to receive both Commonwealth Scholarships and Centrelink based scholarships, they must accept one or the other. Non-indigenous students who are eligible for ongoing Start-Up and Relocation Scholarship payments via Centrelink (see below) will not be eligible for Equity Scholarships. These are students who receive or expect to receive Austudy or Youth Allowance. For full details regarding eligibility for Equity Scholarships you should refer to UAC’s Equity Scholarships website.
How to ApplyApplications are made through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Apply for Equity Scholarships at www.uac.edu.au/equity.
Other financial assistance via CentrelinkStart-Up and Relocation Scholarships are now being paid to recipients of Austudy, Abstudy and Youth Allowance. For details about eligibility for these payments please visit the Centrelink website (www.centrelink.gov.au).
