Sustainability @ SCU

Monitoring and Reporting

The SCU Sustainability Officer is responsible for ensuring effective monitoring and reporting of sustainability initiatives in the teaching, learning and operational activities of Southern Cross University.

Monitoring

A project officer was appointed in 2010 to collect and analyse greenhouse gas emissions related data such as electricity, gas and vehicle fuel consumption; air travel; waste; and comparative data including EFTSL, FTE and floor area (m2) for the University. Further, in the SCU Greenhouse Gas Emissions 2009/10 report produced from this analysis, recommendations to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions were made.

The sub-metering system currently being installed on all buildings at Lismore Campus will also enable higher-definition monitoring of electricity and water consumption from mid-2010.

Reporting

Southern Cross University has a number of reporting options and obligations including:

NSW Council on Environmental Education - Annual progress report for Learning for Sustainability: NSW Environmental Education Plan (currently 2007-10).
